Merchants in Lichtenfels
Florett was the daughter of Manfred Goldmeier and his wife Helene, née Kaufmann, and was born in Lichtenfels on May 4, 1906. On September 23, 1931, she married Max Nass from Regensburg in Lichtenfels, who was born on February 16, 1905, the son of Abraham Nass and his wife Rosa, née Jakob, in Straubing.
After their marriage they ran the clothing store of the Goldmeier family in Bamberger Straße 69 (today: Bamberger Straße 4). However, the business had to close again in 1932 during the world economic crisis.
On October 1, 1932, their son Werner was born in Lichtenfels.

Forced emigration
In 1938, the family found itself deprived of any future due to systematic anti-Semitism. Florett's father had also lost all means of earning a living by 1938.
In October 1938, the young family managed to escape to America: a relative had vouched for them; Max and Florett received work visas. They reached America on November 10, 1938, and were initially accommodated on the farm of cousin Ludwig Goldmeier in Unadilla, Binghamton, New York State.
Building an new life
There, Florett and Max Nass found jobs in a retail store and built a new life.
Max Nass became a department manager and worked there for 23 years. Son Werner and his wife Daisy - both now living in New York - gave them two granddaughters, Valerie and Karen.
Max Nass died on July 2, 1977.
Florett Nass died on September 4, 1991.
